My Success Formula (pt 4)- Thoughts

(Previous on Beliefs)

We Are What We Think.

I have three favorite spiritual quotes that have greatly influenced my thinking on the power of  thoughts.  The first is from the Buddha.  “We are what we think, having become what we thought.” The second is biblical. “As a man thinketh, so is he.” The third comes from the Baha’i Writings.  “The reality of man is his thoughts.” If you want to know what you’ve been thinking consciously and subconsciously, examine your current reality.  What is manifesting?  What do you see around you?  What are you feeling?   We are above all creative beings, that is, we create our own reality.  The tool which allows us to do this is our thoughts.

Thoughts are things.

Thoughts are real.  Thoughts create reality.    I was just watching a video by Bruce Lipton that talked about the power of our conscious and subconscious minds.  He explained why positive thoughts alone don’t change our reality because our positive thoughts which come from our conscious thoughts only operate about 5% of the time.  He suggested that 95-99% of our thoughts are subconscious.  Most of our thoughts are a result of our programming which begins at our birth and for the first six years he says, are operating in a theta wave state.  We were in a state of automatic download which meant we were receiving the programming from our parents, environment, and influences (television, teachers, sibling, etc.)  Research shows children under six don’t have the capacity in the theta state to understand the difference between reality and fantasy.  That is why some experts on child development state that young children should not watch television at all.  They know that the children are being programmed and don’t have the capacity yet to challenge that programming which could potentially be with them for life if gone unchecked.   But, now we are adults and we must challenge or reprogram much of our old programming.  If life is working for you, then your programming must be working.  If it’s not than you need to reprogram! My Success Formula (pt 3) Belief continued

Take That First Step and Last Step in Faith

Part 1 of Belief

So once you’re clear on the outcome, and you’ve sought out the initial knowledge you need,  your belief is more important than ever.  As Dr. Martin Luther King said, “You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just the first step.” Faith inspires you to take that first step and know that the second step will be there when you get there.   Belief determines whether a dream remains a dream or will become reality.

Many people talk about grandiose goals and dreams.   Some even visualize what they want and seek knowledge about what it would take to achieve their goals.  Many stop there when that is precisely the time to rely on their faith to move them to the next level.

You Can If You Think You Can!

Don’t let anyone talk you out of your dreams by convincing you that  it’s too risky. And, be very, very careful about what you believe or who you believe.  Why should someone’s opinion of your possibilities supersede your faith in yourself? Why would you consciously give someone that much power over your destiny?  Your vision is a sneak preview into your reality.  If you can see it is real.  But, only your belief will move you towards that which you see in your visions.   If you believe you will succeed, you will.  Your mind is the most powerful tool in the universe.  It is your faith that coaxes a wish or desire from the realm of thought into the realm of reality. My Success Formula (pt3)- Belief

Continued from Part 2: Knowledge

You’ve heard it before. “If you believe you can’t, you can’t; if you believe you can, you can!”  I don’t know which of the elements in my success formula is the most important, but I know belief or faith ranks way up there.  Think about it, someone could accidentally achieve an outcome that fulfills them that they didn’t plan for in the beginning.   Sometimes you have to just get started and have faith that certitude and clarity will come to you in time. When I started my career, I was working in technology.  I didn’t plan in the beginning to be a motivator, writer, speaker or poet. But, here I am.  You may not even have all the knowledge you need, because you learn as you go.

B=Belief Is Essential.

Faith is the fuel that gets us going and keeps us moving towards our goals.  Without faith, we don’t try.  Rarely do you see people giving their all to a pursuit that they do not believe in.  Belief is the glue that holds the whole dream together until it is firmly manifested as reality.  Every part of my success formula is affected by belief.  The thoughts, words, and actions of a person who believes in their dreams is very different from someone who doubts, disbelieves, or who fears.  (Belief (2) continued)

Marvel’s First African-American Superhero Movie In Development | News One

February is Black History month.  It is a time when people (especially African-Americans) take the time to learn about the vast number of contributions that Blacks have made to the country or to the world for that matter.  It is a time for everyone to learn, acknowledge, and appreciate the sacrifices and the service of these brave and highly skilled people. While Blacks made significant contributions from the moment they stepped on this soil, it has taken some time to break down barriers and have their talents and full contributions recognized.  While we applaud every one, those that were the first in any field were the trailblazers who opened up the doors of possibilities for the multitudes to follow.

There are a lot of firsts to be celebrated, the first black president, Barack Obama, 2008, yay!  The first U.S. Senator: Hiram Revels became Senator from Mississippi from Feb. 25, 1870, to March 4, 1871, during Reconstruction.  The first  U.S. Supreme Court Justice: Thurgood Marshall, 1967–1991. The first patent holder: Thomas L. Jennings, 1821, for a dry-cleaning process.  The Inventor of the blood bank: Dr. Charles Drew, 1940.  The first Ivy League president: Ruth Simmons, 2001, Brown University, the first  Poet (published): Phillis Wheatley, 1773. and the first black  Miss America: Vanessa Williams, 1984.  These are just a few, of course.

So now it is normal to have black  presidents, poets, politicians, inventors, and even beauty queens.  But,  how many black superheros have you seen on the big screen?  According to Wikipedia, there are at least 50 black superheroes that have appeared in various forms of media.    But, according to New One, not one has appeared on the big screen.  Hopefully things are about to change on that too.  “Marvel is looking to breathe life into mainstream’s first black superhero Black Panther (Also known as Prince T’Challa). There has been struggles to put ‘Black Panther’ on the big screen, which was in development back in the 1990’s with Wesley Snipes on board to play the role. However, things are changing for the better. According to information found on Hollywood Reporter, Marvel is back at work in developing ‘Black Panther,’ and is currently experiencing good progress in putting the project together.” via Marvel’s First African-American Superhero Movie In Development | News One.   Note:  If you can think of a Black Comic Superhero that has been in the movies,  please comment.  Also share what you think the importance is  of having black superheroes.
