Dream Derailer #5- Succumbing to Negativity

My dad used to always say, “Smile and the world will smile with you.”  A surefire way of getting off track with your dreams is to succumb to the negative people, beliefs, attitudes, and perspectives of those you come in contact with.  When we allow the negativity to take hold, we relinquish our power.

How do you see the world?

Remember the computer acronym, WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get).  Meaning, what you choose to see greatly influences your outcome.  Your power is in your perception and perspective.  If you believe you will succeed, you will!  If you see the glass as half full, it’s half full.  If you see it as half empty, that version can also become your reality.  The point is that you have free will and how you choose to see a situation paints your reality.  If you see the world as an unjust, hateful, unforgiving, and cruel place, that  will be your reality.  If you see the universe as abundant, beautiful, and loving, that perspective will color your world.  It is what you decide it is.

Negativity Comes in Many Forms

Negativity comes in all forms and all of them are dangerous.  Whether it is your thoughts, the people you choose to be in your inner circle, what you read, listen to, or watch, or just the physical environments around you, it all affects you.  There are inspiring people, uplifting thoughts, and nurturing environments just as there are negative thoughts, toxic people, and discouraging environments.  The point is, in order to stay on track and keep moving towards your dreams (in spite of all the obstacles), you’ve got to have the right attitude.  Our attitudes and outcomes are affected by the people we hang around with and the environments we choose to be influenced by, so choose them carefully.  We know how hard it is on us when others give up on us, so above all, don’t give up on yourself.

My Success Formula (pt 4)- Thoughts

(Previous on Beliefs)

We Are What We Think.

I have three favorite spiritual quotes that have greatly influenced my thinking on the power of  thoughts.  The first is from the Buddha.  “We are what we think, having become what we thought.” The second is biblical. “As a man thinketh, so is he.” The third comes from the Baha’i Writings.  “The reality of man is his thoughts.” If you want to know what you’ve been thinking consciously and subconsciously, examine your current reality.  What is manifesting?  What do you see around you?  What are you feeling?   We are above all creative beings, that is, we create our own reality.  The tool which allows us to do this is our thoughts.

Thoughts are things.

Thoughts are real.  Thoughts create reality.    I was just watching a video by Bruce Lipton that talked about the power of our conscious and subconscious minds.  He explained why positive thoughts alone don’t change our reality because our positive thoughts which come from our conscious thoughts only operate about 5% of the time.  He suggested that 95-99% of our thoughts are subconscious.  Most of our thoughts are a result of our programming which begins at our birth and for the first six years he says, are operating in a theta wave state.  We were in a state of automatic download which meant we were receiving the programming from our parents, environment, and influences (television, teachers, sibling, etc.)  Research shows children under six don’t have the capacity in the theta state to understand the difference between reality and fantasy.  That is why some experts on child development state that young children should not watch television at all.  They know that the children are being programmed and don’t have the capacity yet to challenge that programming which could potentially be with them for life if gone unchecked.   But, now we are adults and we must challenge or reprogram much of our old programming.  If life is working for you, then your programming must be working.  If it’s not than you need to reprogram! Women Are Not Ready to Say Bye-Bye to The Planet

“Bye-Bye Planet, was inscribed on a banner graphic prominently displayed in a doomsday article of the European Times Online Newspaper entitled, “Toxic Oil Spills Rains Warned Could Destroy North America.” This was in response to the chemical dispersal agent Corexit 9500 that was pumped into the leak in the Gulf which is four times more toxic than oil the article warns.   Other headlines, “Dealing with the Greatest Environmental Catastrophe Ever to Hit the Continental United States.”

And it’s not just in America that the destruction of our planet from our own hands continues unabated, consider this. A July 29, 2010 article reads ‘China vows to prevent environmental catastrophe after river pollution“Flooding washed over 1,000 barrels of explosive chemicals into the Songhua River in the Jilin Province early on Wednesday, officials said. The river, a tributary of the Amur River in Russia, is the main source of drinking water for Jilin, the province’s second-largest city.”

And let’s not so easily forget about other “unnatural” disasters that have occurred, Katrina and the earthquakes in Haiti, Chili, and China. We must become more caring about things that are not in our own backyard, because eventually the residues may wash up there.  Imagine the Unthinkable, and then imagine us all solving the problem together.  Remember the earth is home to all of us.  Click to continue reading entire article, Women Are Not Ready to Say Bye-Bye To Our Planet
